Feral cats are an ongoing issue in Central Florida. While some see them as a nuisance, they can actually be beneficial to your community. Cats are very territorial and will keep other rival cat colonies out of their territory. Problems arise, however, when feral cats are allowed to reproduce rampantly. TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) programs address this problem while offering a humane solution to the feral cat problem. Cats are trapped in humane traps, spay/neutered at partnering clinics, and released back into their original environment. If you see a cat with a "tipped" (clipped) ear, they have been TNR'd. Below are some TNR resources and articles about feral cats.
